Description of Research
Research within the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management is conducted within the Anaesthesia and Pain Management Group in the Clinical Sciences Theme of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.
Our group focuses on improving the quality of care received by children before, during, and after their operations.
Major research themes include:
- Anaesthesia impact on the developing brain
- Pharmacokinetics of local anaesthetic agents
- Central Venous Access studies
- EEG and anaesthesia in the neonate
- Anaesthesia and the difficult airway
- Blood management during cardiac anaesthesia
- Environmental sustainability in anaesthesia
- Acute and chronic pain management
- Optimal outcomes and recovery from anaesthesia
